As the Assistant Farm Manager, you will work closely with our Farm Manager to ensure the efficient operation of our organic farm and the delivery of high-quality, sustainable produce to our community. Responsibilities: Assist in all aspects of farm management, including planting, cultivating, harvesting, and crop rotation. Supervise and train farm laborers and seasonal workers. Monitor and maintain the health of crops, including pest and disease management. Help with irrigation systems and ensure proper water management. Assist in equipment maintenance and repairs. Participate in planning crop schedules and planting calendars. Ensure compliance with organic farming standards and sustainability practices. Collaborate with the Farm Manager to develop and implement farm policies and procedures. Engage with the local community through educational programs, farm tours, and events. Contribute to the marketing and sales of farm products, including farmers markets and CSA programs. Maintain accurate records of farm activities, expenses, and yields. Description: Your role will involve broadforking and spreading compost over our beds to prepare them for planting. This is a short-term opportunity to get hands-on experience in organic farming. You will be working around 8 hours per day.
Responsibilities: Use a broadfork to aerate and loosen the soil in our crop beds.
Spread compost evenly over the prepared beds.
Collaborate with our farm team to ensure the proper application of compost.
